The wind rustled through the clumps of trees, tossing leafs that were unlucky enough to be caught to the ground. It was still spring and the trees had yet to lose their glorious emerald colors. One leaf dwindeld down in a lazy spiral towards the ground. A slender hand reached out to grab it in midair. A hand covered with old scars and experience with weapons.
Akina held the leaf between her fingers, examining it with her sharp gold eyes. She was used to studying something, memorizing every mark and movemnt it made. And it was with those keen eyes that she could calculate at extrodinary speeds. Flicking the leaf out of her hands, she gripped her bookes and continued her walk.
Not far ahead and nestled by the rocky wall as the academy for Konoha. The first step in the long road of a ninja. All those bright eyed children who rushed in every morning always brought a grin to her face. This year however, she would not be schooling a team of genins. With the lack of Chuunin, Akina had volunteered to teach a class to students this year. Not that it bothered her too much.
Akina gave a breif nod to the other ninjas strolling in the hallways. It was still quiet since the school had not yet opened. The last class had graduate a month ago and it was about time to take in new graduates. The jounin reclined her head with pride, taking each step confidently. Finding her room, she slipped inside and flicked on the lights. It was hard to beleive it would soon be full of children.
Setting down the books, Akina sat down on one of the desk, letting her legs dangle. A soft thing brushed passed her hand and another by her feet. Most would have jumped but the young Jounin only grinned. A small bobtailed cat peered up at her with two toned eyes. Akina leaned down, offering her arm. "You can't scare me that easily Hotaru."She giggled as the cat ran up her arm and perched on her shoulder with a content meow.
Akina shifted to look at the other furry creature. An older cat sat by her hand, licking its face before turning gold eyes to her. Akina reached out to stroke Kobe's ears, the only remaining thing of her sister's. "And good morning to you Kobe, sleep well I presume?"
So it was weird that she talked to her cats, it was her clans hobby afterall. Felines were their fighting partners rather then the common dog or wolf. To them, cats possesed a more intellegent and crafty mind. "Your cat stole my shuriken sister." A low voice came from the doorway.
Akina rose her head to see her younger brother Chain come in. Sadly, he had the unfortunate luck of being on of her students. Akina only grinned and ruffled his hair. "Aw, don't be mean to poor Hotaru. That's his way of showing love. Now take your seat, I want to start as soon as everyone arrives."
Chain glared at her for a moment though refused to add any further comments. He hated cats, especially his sister's. Strange since he belonged to the same clan. Sliding in a seat to the back of the room, the younger boy waited for the other students with the Jounin.

Wake up early tomorrow. Kaida had told herself last night. Wake up early and get to class early. Set the alarm forty minutes earlier than usual - it gives you time to sit your butt in bed and slowly drain sleep.... As she shuffled down a corridor lined with plain, light colored wood fence, Kaida began to wonder if maybe this was a little bit too early. Nah. the dark but pale clad girl thought to herself, purple eyes scanning the cross section as she stepped out into the main square of Konoha, noticing that actually, there were quite a few people up at this unholy hour. Quite a few, but not many or a lot. She shrugged and continued walking the way to the academy.
Carefully, Kaida watched the others, but not too noticeably. She could see some other early-bird ninjas, taking note of their clothes, their actions, how popular they were, and also making notes of her own. Will they think I'm weird, wearing these gloves? She thought, peering downwards. What if they don't like horizontal stripes? She thought again, turning her head away from her leggings and staring at her hands. She frowned slightly, thinking, What if they think my eyes are too bright? What if I fail again this year, what if I never pass, what if they tell me when I'm 18 and still in the academy they're taking pity on me and moving me to genin. What if they kick me out? Kaida huffed and lifted her head, noticing the Academy appearing over the horizon line. To her satisfaction, she could see in the windows some bare movements going. Good. She wasn't too early.
As she entered the building and strolled down the hallway, Kaida lifted her head and peering around as the other passing shinobi. Most of them were the teachers, but she spotted atleast five other students. None, unfortunately, looked like they were 12, like her. Kaida gritted her teeth and sighed. She didn't like being twelve. Still a tween. She wanted it to finally be December 15th, because then she'd be a real teenager, hopefully, a 13-year-old Genin. She would rise through the ranks and become the Hokage's favorite ninja and become the Hokage, and become the most famous Hokage, and die peacefully with millions of sad onlookers who love her and..
Woah. Let's not get carried away, shall we?
Kaida stopped by a door, looking over to the number on the sign and checking it with her mental knowledge. Yeah, this was her classroom. The girl casually slid the door open, walking in quiet as she could. For the most part, the classroom was deserted, except, from what she was, the teacher, another student, and two cats. Kaida shuddered mentally. She never had been favorable to cats. When she had been little, the academy student had owned what appeared to be some wolfish looking gigantic dog with the general IQ of a fly until it came to combat. He had been random colors of brown, and little girl Kaida named him MochaMuffin. Yes, MochaMuffin. She couldn't decide which, so she used them both. He had been her security blanket, and he never did like cats. Thus, Kaida didn't like cats. She was much too attatched to her MochaMuffin.
Then MochaMuffin died fighting with her father. Kaida did her best to erase both from her memories.
She paused from her thoughts, lifting a lightbrown eyebrow and saying in a fairly confident but soft voice, "I hope I'm not too early or something." She instantly shut up the second after saying that and turned on her heel, walking to a middle row. She prefered the front row, as she did, infact, like to learn about most things, but the middle row was safer to her, for whatever reason. Out of habit she crossed her feet at the ankle and placed her hands on the desk, left ontop of the right. Every tiny precise detail mattered to the brown-haired girl sitting in one of the middle seats, and she wouldn't fail to take care of every tiny detail as well as she could. She moved her left pinky a tiny fragment of an inch closer to her other fingers. There, now she was satisfied.
Kaida looked up towards the jounin, thinking. Hrm, judgement passed. She didn't appear crazy, or openly lethal towards her students, or something that might make Kaida twitch. Good enough, for now. She considered turning around and surveying the boy at the back row, but Kaida decided that would be much too troublesome. Afterall, she took little interest in her classmates, no matter how nice or friendly she might seem. She just liked to know faces incase they ever turned against her. But that, she decided, was for another time. For the time being, Kaida consumed herself in her thoughts, though she stayed as alert as she could be about her surrounding.

Unlike good students, Din set his clock thirty minutes late. Honestly? He didnt care one bit. He continued walking as Mistletoe brushed past his legs and scratched at him. He shook his head and picked her up letting her fall asleep in his arms. "So fast today.." Dinjou muttered stroking her head. He now carried her in one arm as he stared at a yellow, silver, orange, and black butterfly. His right hand reached out and took hold of it. Where he wouldnt touch the wings, it would'nt hurt the butterfly, and he could get a closer look at it.
He walked into the classroom ignoring whoever was around him still staring at the Butterfly. Din released it and sat down at a desk in the middle, resting Mistletoe on it. He rested his head in his hands and stared at Akina.

A young girls stretched slightly as she walked. She had woken up right on time for her. She felt refreshed and happy. The odd girl smiled as she brushed her fingers through her bangs, making her bangs on the left side of her face fall into place over her left eye. She always wore her hair like this for some reason. The girl blinked her deep blue eyes as she stopped and looked around. Where had her mutt gone? Takumi apparently didn't have her sleep schedule mastered. The ebony haired girl sighed as the Akita wolf mix ran quickly to her side. She smiled at Takumi as he yawned. He didn't like waking up so early, but always followed the girl and time didn't matter. The girl laughed and continued walking, her dog at her side.
"See you don't like mornings Takumi... Oh well huh? You're the one who always follows me anyway." She told the mutt.
Takumi snorted slightly in annoyance. He hated the morning. The girl known as Endoh Kuroda smiled. Takumi was her best friend, fighting partner, and protector. Kuroda had taken Takumi up when he was just a small pup thrown out on the street. She took care of him and he never left her since. Kuroda never had anyone else since her parents left her when she was young. She scowled slightly At the thought. Oh, how she loathed them. She hardly remembered anything about them though, since she slowly forced herself to forget. She only remembered them going out and never coming back, and that they were shinobis. That's the reason Kuro wished to become a genin. She wanted to find her parents and possibly question them or beat the crap out of them.
Kuro shook her head and sighed. Thinking about her parents wasn't a way to start her day. Kuro looked at Takumi as he peered at her with his blazing golden eyes. Kuro smiled and patted his head happily. Kuro watched as the academy came into her view. She smiled and noticed the people around the area. Kuroda gave a sly smirk as she thought about what she would do today. She could scare others and make herself known as a weirdo. As Kuro got closer to the academy she looked down at Takumi and raised a brow.
"Sorry Tak, you gotta go back home, I know there could be cats around and I know how you are around cats." She sighed.
Takumi snorted and turned around and began to walk the other way. He knew when to be back. Kuroda sighed and smiled, Tak was acting the same as usual about her being without him. She entered the academy and watched others, making note of the popular kids, her mortal enemies. Kuro walked into her classroom. Not many kids in it so far, but whatever. Kuro looked at the cats and sighed with relief, good thing she didn't keep Takumi with her. The girl glanced around the room and spotted a brown haired girl in the middle row, a boy in the back, and another boy in the middle. Kuro decided to sit next to the brown haired girl. Kuro played around with her sapphire shard on her necklace a bit then sighed. She was bored. Kuroda leaned over to Kaida and tapped her on the shoulder.
"'Lo, wha might your name be?" Kuro asked quietly.

Akina brushed the fur along the orange bobtail's ears as he purred beside her. Her brother only rolled his eyes and went back to his nap in back of the room. He would wake up when needed. The jounin gave him one smile before the cat nudge her hand to be petted again. He was a much bigger cat then the pets the students and other nins had. Sometimes mistaken for a small dog, he was actually something to content with in battle.
The spotted black and white bobtail cat beside her feet was also of the same breed and just a worthy foe. Her beautfiul eyes suddenly perked as the first student walked through the door. Akina inclined her head as Kaida walked in, ignoring Hotaru as he hopped onto her shoulder. She offered a warmer smile knowing many of the students were be nervous their first day. "Just a little bit early but that's not a surprise. It's nice to see we have early birds in the morning." She laughed softly and watched her take her seat. Gold eyes flashed up at her brother who was starting to dose of.
Kobe wandered up onto one of the desks as Dinjou came in. The jounin flashed him a glance as he walked right in and sat down. Preoccupied aren't we... Akina snickered as she continued to wait for the other students to arrive. Kobe wandered over to the desk, meowing her own little hello to the two students.
Kuroda was one of the last to come in. Akina nodded to her as well and hopped off of the desk she had claimed for a seat and walked to her own desk at the front of the room. Hotaru on her shoulder gave a low growl at the scent of the mutt on her only to be hushed by his master. "Don't be nasty today Hotaru, you know better." She warned the big feline before sitting down by her desk.
"Well now, we seem to be missing a few students." She said as the jounin checked her list with gold eyes. "But they'll deal with being late. Now then seeing as how we have three students who at least tried to get, I offer my welcome to each of you. My name is Kosetsu Akina, sensei to you if you wish. I'll give them a few more mintues so please feel free to move around a talk."

Kaida's thoughts broke as she felt the tiniest bit of pressure on her shoulder. While her first instinct was to ignore it, Kaida hated to seem cold and disliked being judged negatively in social situations. She lifted her introverted-ness for a bit and turned her head, peering at the girl who had tapped her. Odd. When did she come in? More or less, when did she sit down? Oops. Maybe the whole "I'm going to consume myself in my thoughts but still pay attention to the class room" ordeal hadn't gone as planned. She was just about to speak, however, when the jounin voiced herself. For whatever odd reason, Kaida felt this relieving. Wait. When did she get over to the teacher's desk? Kaida mentally smacked her forehead. What a dolt. You better start to pay attention. She told herself.
Sit, listen, good Kaida. Her bright gaze remained on the jounin - who identified herself as Kotsetu Akina soon after Kaida began to wonder her name - as she spoke. Kaida prayed it would be a big welcoming speech to give her time to warm up her unused and tired voice, but then remembered there were only two - no, three - students in the room. Wait. The girl's gaze flickered over to the side as she noted a boy in the middle row as well. Four students, so sue her. She looked back to Akina, listening actively to her last statement. "I'll give them a few more mintues so please feel free to move around a talk."
Thus, Kaida turned her attention back to the girl next to her. Who was she again? Never did ask her name. That was good, remarked Kaida mentally, because that way she would have a question to ask and keep the conversation going. Kaida hated awkward endings that just stopped abruptly when neither knew what to say, and she especially hated being the one who didn't know what to say first.
Very lightly, the brown-haired student replied, "I'm Tomoko Kaida. Just Kaida, if you want though. What's yours?"
Her voice, though still quiet as it was the morning and she wasn't quite the I-love-waking-up-when-the-sun's-just-rising type of girl, was naturally strong and confident. That was basically the only part Kaida liked about herself. Kaida quickly turned her head and surveyed the two students she had decided not to earlier. ... Was that one in the back row sleeping? Feh. How... peculiar? No. That wasn't the word. Disgraceful? No. That sounded like a word parents used to discipline their kids but it never worked. Kaida snorted to herself and decided she didn't want to waste her time thinking of words to describe the boy.
She ran her eyes over the boy with the fox, a small smile fixing itself on her face. Already she decided she wanted to fight him. No, not fight. What a strongly misused word. Spar him, that's what she wanted to do. Spar him and his fox. Did his fox spar, actually? That was the only reason she really wanted to. Kaida's clan specifically focused themselves on fighting like foxes, and nearly all of them had a fox companion at some time or another. Kaida didn't like fighting companions however. The last one she had met bit her. The girl turned her head back towards her neighbor and grinned sheepishly. "Sorry," she started, idly tucking one side of her hair behind her ear, exposing a plain, small, gray hoop earing, "Just wanted to see who else was here."

Din watched the butterfly flutter hopelessly around the room as Mistletoe woke up stretching on the desk and yawned showing small stubby teeth. He looked towards Kaida watching her for a quick minute then gazed at Akina listening to her words. "Not like I have anyone to talk to." Dinjou smirked.
Mistletoe, decided he was being abit rude to a Jounin and pounced on his stomach. Din winced and stared at his fox. She snorted, abit content with what she had done. Mistle flapped her small wings and lowered herself gently to the ground. The butterfly landed on Din's desk as he continued watching it.
His brown and blue eye followed the butterfly threw the door. Din sighed now not having any amusement but what his strange fox was going to do next. So, he watched her. Mistletoe made her way towards Chain and sniffed his leg. She walked in circles around him and tilted her head.
