Name: Kogaku Kakani
Alias: Kakani
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Village: Konoha
Rank: Genin
Sensei: Inuzuka Bonkotsu
Team-mates: Tsukiyo Raven & Yasashiku Raidon
Clan: Kogaku
Mother: Rinsei- Dead (Died of old age)
Father: Kobushi- Dead (Died of illness)
Siblings: Takaui- Kakani's older brother, age 17 (Presumed dead)
Pet(s): Keiyou- Red-tailed hawk
Clan Instrument: Flute
Personality: Kakani is often moody, and it is difficult to tell what she’s thinking or what she plans to do. No one seems to know what goes on in her head, but what shows is an almost violent determination to do whatever it is she wants done. Occasionally, she’ll lighten up and share a laugh or two, but she prefers company that she can speak intelligently to, or someone she can just sit in company with and be content with that. In battle, she is cool-headed and analytical, acts quickly and has not yet been known to panic.
Past: There are few things truly important to her in life, but these things are closely guarded in more ways than one. Years ago, when Kakani had just joined the Academy, she was home on a weekend, pouring over scrolls in her room like she always did. For some weeks now a hawk nest had been above her window on the ledge overhanging the roof, and today the chicks were louder than they usually were. Kakani stood to close the window to their noise, but as she did so, the mother hawk landed. She withdrew her hand, waiting for the mother to leave, who was feeding her chicks. The hawklings were quite old by now, with most of their feathers growing in. The nest was too small to hold all of them, and when activity increased while they fought over the vole, one chick tumbled from the nest.
Without thinking, Kakani’s hands shot out and she caught the bird in her cupped hands. The chick struggled and squawked, but the mother was already gone hunting again. Kakani carried the baby to the roof and deposited him around his brothers and sisters, but they attacked him, fearing the scent of humans. The mother landed, and caught wind of the smell on one of her hatchlings. Displeased, she pecked him sharply, drawing blood. Kakani had had enough of this, and quickly rescued the chick and brought him back to her room. After a quick argument with her parents, she raised the chick and even carefully taught him to fly. Since then, Keiyou, as she named him, has been her constant companion and aids her in battle.
At first Keiyou was looked upon only as a tool, but over time, though she admits it not even to herself, he has become a friend. Kakani did not have many friends as a child, because she preferred a silent, if comfortable companionship as opposed to the noisy friendships of the other children… though of course, human friends came and went just like most children, and she was not without childhood friends. Above all, she would spend time with her brother, Takaui. It is difficult to express her attachment to him. From the time she could walk, she would follow him around, tagging along wherever he chose to go. He taught her things important and unimportant, everything from fishing to fighting. They were so close, they rarely needed to talk- a look was all that was needed to get a message across.
But Takaui was displeased with the clan’s current state of weakness. He wasn’t an outstanding shinobi, but he began to train determinedly. He did get stronger; very strong, in fact, strong enough that he chose to hide his newfound abilities from the rest of the clan. He would reveal them at the time when it would be best suited to redeem the clan- but time dragged on an no such opportunity presented itself. He went back to training. Slowly, slowly, he became more addicted to the power he gained. He drifted from his little sister and his handful of friends, becoming more reclusive and silent. Kakani was disturbed by this, but was still too young to understand it or work out why he was this way.
It got to the point where Takaui was desperate to leave Konoha. His priorities had changed; he was still interesting in making the name Kogaku wide-known, but no longer in the benign way. He had waited for what was in his mind a pathetic clan to open a door for him to redeem them, and they did not. To him, this taught that he must open the doors for himself and that meant gaining power in any way he could, and using it any way he could. So, he faked his death. He did so on a somewhat more dangerous mission, but before doing so he left Kakani a note. In his mind, she was one of the last of the clan besides he that showed potential. Perhaps he still felt the bond they shared, or used to share, or still did. He didn’t express it.
The note was simple, and Kakani found it a few months before she passed the Academy test. She was shocked, terrified of being left with only her dying mother. Shortly after her mother received news of Takaui’s supposed death, she died herself. This affected the young Genin, but she didn’t know it herself. Feeling abandoned by any sort of relation, she metaphorically turned to her last bond- her brother. The paper he had left for her briefly described his actions, though obviously not the majority of them. The words read that he was forced to leave, and that he and she could redeem the clan as the last of the bloodline with any ambition. He promised that if she was strong enough when they crossed paths again, they could bring back the name of Kogaku together. She swore to herself that she would be strong enough, no matter what it took, whether she knew what his plans were or not. She trusted him. Completely.
One of the last things he kept from her was their father’s death. Kobushi had become suspicious of his son after spotting him practicing a... dishonest technique, to say the least. His son turned on him, using a poison he had developed himself to beset an illness upon his own father. Kobushi had been so sick-ridden that he had been unable to tell anyone, warn anyone, do anything save for lie in bed quietly until he died. The first blow to his mother before his fake death- and one of the first crippling blows to his remaining morals. Kakani suspected nothing, and only knew now that she lived alone save for her bird, Keiyou, imagining a world where she was with her brother and it was like old times again, but better. Traveling, strong, sure of herself, not alone. She grew used to the isolation and concentrated on her training, receiving Raidon and Raven as her teammates, and Bonkotsu as her sensei. Her Genin training begins.

Jutsus:
- - Uyoku, Shikyaku no Jutsu: Kakani's main, favored technique. The name translates into 'Beast Mimicry Technique, Wings'. For this jutsu to work, Keiyou must fly above Kakani; when the shadow of his wings meets Kakani's, her shadow retains the wings after Keiyou flies by. The wings slide up from the ground to her shoulderblades, aiding her in battle and allowing her to fly. They are insubstantial, so objects fly through them- after all, they're made of shadow and only hold her up because of her chakra. These wings are only just about as large as her, as all wings must be to lift someone or something, be it animal or human.
*Notes on Shikyaku no Jutsu; She cannot keep these wings for long periods of time without taking food pills, much like Kiba cannot stay in his Gijyuu Ninpou, Shikyaku no Jutsu ('Beast Mimicry Technique, Four Legs') form longer without taking food pills himself. Keiyou, like Akamaru, also has a mimicry form. (See below) - - Enjin-Faia no Jutsu: Once again, Kakani uses her flute for this. When used effectively, this will ignite a ring of fire around her opponent, which will flare up violently whenever her enemy tries to cross it or jump over it. Although to most this technique would be near useless other than holding people, as the enemy itself is both trapped and protected from their attacker by the flames, but Kakani is an exception in her mimicry form. Her mimicry form enables her to fly above her opponent and attack from above while her enemy is forced to stay inside the circle of fire, their defense and attack methods now limited. This translates into
*Notes on the Enjin Faia no Jutsu; The wall of fire does have it's weaknesses, as all jutsus do. Water combats the effectiveness of the flames, but wind will only fan them and make them stronger. Most other elements are neutral. - - Kage-Enmaku no Jutsu: This is a simple technique Kakani devised herself. it is a hybrid of two existing jutsus that deal with dimming the light and creating a smokescreen. When used, the lighting in any given area will dim, limiting visibility. Smoke will seep up from the ground and literally create a smokescreen, making it extremely difficult to see anything at all. Kakani's mimicry form is almost nessecary for this technique when used offensively; using her mimicry form's advanced eyesight, she is able to see in the dark and manipulate the smoke with her flute. The manipulation is crude and unrefined, but it works enough that she can dive or side-attack her enemy through the dimness while she can see them much more clearly. Can also be used to hide oneself, and translates to 'Shadow-Smokescreen Technique'.
Keiyou's techniques:- - Jintai, Shikyaku no Jutsu: Keiyou’s favored technique. The name translates into ‘Beast Mimicry Technique, Human‘. For this jutsu to work, Keiyou must fly above Kakani; when the shadow of his wings meets Kakani's, her shadow retains the wings after Keiyou flies by. Meanwhile, part of her shadow attaches itself to the shadow of himself that reforms once his mistress gains the shadow wings, as light will always cast shadows whether you deign to use one in a technique or not. The shadow wraps itself around his form, and molds some new parts onto him. These parts are also insubstantial, like Kakani’s, and can be used but not touched or affected as far as is known so far. The effects are as follows; Keiyou’s wings shift to his shoulder blades instead of his pectorals, and shadow arms much like that of early feathered dinosaurs form. The mimicry technique itself forms Keiyou’s neck to be more sinuous, like a above mentioned dino, and he also grows in size to that of a medium-sized dog.
*Notes on Jintai, Shikyaku no Jutsu; Though the shadow is insubstantial to opponents and to Kakani herself, it can be used as a solid form by Keiyou as this is part of the technique. - W.I.P.
