Name: ?? Mizuhashi (water bridge) Ú¸ôç Miharu (beautiful clear sky)
Alias: Miharu, Mizu, Haru, Hashi.
Age: 11
Gender: Female
Village: Kumo
Rank:Genin
Mother: Deceased
Father: Deceased
Siblings: Older sister, Hiuji.
Pet(s): Genii (Guh-Nie)- Another of the Japanese dogs of Spitz background, the Japanese Spitz has a startlingly white coat which is long and stands off in a quite dramatic fashion, quite different to the plush coats of the Japanese Akita and Japanese Shiba Inu. The brilliance of the coat combined with the intense pigment of the eyes, eye rims, lips and nose make him a dog that can't be ignored - though in case you did he will make sure you notice him; as the Standard puts it "Slightly chatty at first meeting with strangers".
The origins of the Japanese Spitz are unclear, though one theory has him descended from the now-extinct German White Spitz, but what is agreed is that he is descended from the Nordic long-haired dogs and was exported to Japan early in the 20th century from Sweden as a larger type. Japanese enthusiasts bred it to create a smaller dog, no more than 14" and quite lightweight, from where he was exported to Sweden and in 1970 made his way to England.
The Japanese Spitz is an alert and lively dog, affectionate but vocal and is a busy little housedog. He doesn't need a great deal of exercise and will be happy to adapt himself to your lifestyle, so long as that does not mean being left alone for long periods. He has been quite a success story since he first arrived in the UK. His coat needs a fair amount of attention to do it justice, but a regular thorough weekly brush should keep him looking smart. ((Male, white pelted, brown eyes. One and a half.)
Lisone (Liss-O-Neh)- The Japanese Shiba Inu (Shiba meaning 'small' and Inu meaning 'dog') is a relative newcomer to the UK and has quickly acquired considerable popularity. A medium sized dog at up to 15¨ö" and not heavily built with the typical stand-off Spitz coat the Japanese Shiba Inu is a smart and handy sized dog. Like the Japanese Akita his colour is clear and bright; permissible colours are red, black, black and tan, brindle, and white with a red or grey tinge. He should suggest a scaled-down version of the Japanese Akita.
The Japanese Shiba Inu originates from the inland mountainous areas of Japan where they hunted small game though he is also adept at tracking larger game such as wild boar and deer. He is a very alert and active dog, not noisy like some of the Spitz breeds and very friendly - neither is he wary of strangers as most Spitz are. In fact he has the attractive aesthetic qualities of the Spitz breeds without the reserve or tendency to bark that is usual. ((Female, reddish tinge, with underparts and such a tan, brown eyes. One.))
Uinjeski (U-N-Je-Sky)- The Japanese Akita is one of three Spitz type dogs from Japan currently recognised by The Kennel Club; also known as the Akita Inu, meaning 'large dog', the other two are the Japanese Shiba Inu (small dog) and the Japanese Spitz. All have their origin in the Polar regions and have typically dense Spitz coats.
The Japanese Akita is a dog of great substance and bone and has been pure bred since the 17th century. At the beginning of the 18th century he was owned largely by the aristocracy and laws were passed to prohibit any cruelty to the Japanese Akita. Originally bred for fighting he then became a hunter - black bear, wild boar and deer being his prey. A resurgence of dog-fighting in the late 19th century threatened the survival of the breed. Shortly before the Second World War efforts were made to revive the fortunes of the Japanese Akita, but during the war they, along with other dogs were killed for human consumption and their pelts.
Once again the breed was in danger of extinction but a Mr Ichinoseki, a breed enthusiast, rescued the Japanese Akita with a careful breeding programme. Since his arrival in the West he has won many admirers and he is undeniably a very smart and imposing dog. His harsh outer coat stands off his body and there is a dense soft undercoat; the colouring - and any colours are permitted - is stunningly clear and brilliant. Tall, at up to 28 " and very substantial with it, weighing up to 50kg, the Japanese Akita cannot be ignored. However, he has a tendency to dominance and affectionate and loyal as he is to his owners he is very protective and needs a very firm hand so he is clear as to where he stands in the family hierarchy.
An immensely impressive dog, he should not be taken on lightly. ((Male, white, left eye blue right eye brown. One.))
Peaches (Pee-Chez)- The Poochin is not a pure bread dog. It is a cross between the Japanese Chin and the Poodle. The besat way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. This hybrid cross is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club. ((Female, apricot-ish tinge, brown eyes. Four months.))
